Cars & motorsport is one of my main interests. I am a VW and Audi fan and I own or have owned various models including a 1967 US spec Beetle, 1964 Split Screen Camper, 1988 Polo & a 1991 Passat estate.
My
latest car is a 1995 Colour Concept Golf GTI.

specification.
My last car was a 1993 Audi 80 2.0E 16v.
My previous Golf was a modified 1989 GTI.
My New Beetle ( only for a weekend though ! ).

Mk 1/2 Golf lay flat rear wiper.
I have only ever carried this out on a Mk 2 but apparently it is the same for a Mk 1.
1/ Remove wiper arm & plastic cover from inside the hatch to expose the wiper motor & mechanism
2/ Loosen nut on end of motor shaft & release linkage arm from the shaft.
3/ Rotate linkage arm 180 degrees & press back onto shaft.
4/ Re-tighten nut ( this is the most tricky part as the nut is obscured by the linkage ).
5/ Operate wiper a few times to ensure the linkage returns to new position.
6/ Re-fit plastic cover & wiper arm ( in flat position !) adjust wiper arm as necessary. The wiper arm may need bending slightly to allow the wiper blade to sit parallel to the window rubber.
