Beanie Baby News.......Sorry no updates for a while. A bit quiet on the Beanie news at the moment unless you know any gossip ? MORE BEANIES TO COME.After the Worldwide vote on 31st December 1999 (see below) Ty has decided to continue making Beanie Babies. There will be a launch of a new Beanie line up very shortly in the US. Did you really think Ty would stop making Beanie Babies and miss out on all that money ! The mass Beanie retirement, as most collectors thought was just a large publicity stunt and it worked. TY NEWS FLASH.After the announcement that all Beanies will be retired Ty was flooded with e.mails and letters from upset collectors which has led the company to issue a global newsflash on there offical site (www.Ty.com). This newsflash states that there will be a worldwide vote on 31st December 1999 where the voters will decide what Ty will do regarding Beanie Babies. When you access www.Ty.com you will be asked this question: "Should Ty create new Beanie Babies in the year 2000?" To cast your vote you will have to pay 50 cents by credit card for charity. This page will be updated with the latest news when the results are published. THE END IS NIGH ..... OR IS IT ?On August 31st 1999, TY announced that all Beanies will be retired at 11.59pm on 31st December 1999. "What will happen next ?" is the question all Beanie collectors are asking. Who knows ! Rumours are that Ty will concentrate on Beanie Buddies ( large versions of Beanies ) or there will be a complete new set of of Beanies Babies for the next Millenium. Whatever the outcome is I'm sure Beanie Babies will be around for a long time and we will keep collecting them.
KEEP YOUR BEANIES UNDER LOCK & KEY!!.Due to the huge demand, high value and collectability of TY Beanies, reports of thefts in the USA are on the increase. The thefts have been manly from warehouses and shops but with the retirement of all Beanies on 31st of December the likelyhood of personal collections being made a target will increase. As yet the thefts haven't started in the UK but as this type of thing usually spreads across the Atlantic no doubt it will. So you have been warned, if you care for your Beanies LOCK THEM UP ! © Darrell Vickery 2001. |
